The Church of the Epiphany

Nelsonville, Ohio

We are a small church in a small town, happy to welcome newcomers to our weekly worship service on Sundays at 9 a.m. Afterward, everyone is invited to share in conversation, coffee, and cake downstairs. Visitors can quickly feel at home!

Worship

The Church of the Epiphany is an Episcopal church, a congregation of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio and a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Our worship services follow the Book of Common Prayer. We alternate between services of the Eucharist (communion), led by a priest, and services of Morning Prayer, led by a lay person. Every service includes music, four Bible readings, and a sermon. Visitors are always welcome.

Location

The Church of the Epiphany is located at 193 Jefferson Street, only three blocks from Canal Street.

From Canal Street, turn north onto Watkins Street between McDonald’s and Shrivers Pharmacy. Drive two blocks to the “T” intersection, then turn left onto Jefferson Street.  We’re in the brick church on the left. There’s plenty of street parking!

The word epiphany means a sudden understanding or insight.
Our name refers to the church season celebrating the three Wise Men’s visit to the infant Jesus and their recognition of His divinity.

In the community

We host a free community dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month.

We also join other local churches in fundraising and service projects, such as giving out peanut butter and jelly at the local pool during the summer.

During the winter months, we partner with Rocky Boots to provide hats and gloves to local families.
